Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest passenger car manufacturer, will introduce a new model in place of the smaller car for the first time in last seven years. The production version of the Future-S concept, Maruti S-Presso (Codename YK1), which was showcased at Auto Expo 2018, It will be launched in time to take advantage of this year’s festive season Diwali, the Economic Times revealed. According to latest news sources, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, codenamed Y1K is to be powered by a 1-litre petrol engine that comes with an automatic manual transmission with ABS and dual airbags as standard.

The vehicle will be equipped with a segment-leading touch screen with rear parking sensors and It will also come with the camera. A dual-color option will also be given on the product to appeal to young buyers. The Indian auto manufacturers have been witness to the normal slowdown and Maruti is also facing pressure due to declining sales of past 9 months. With the S-Presso small car, the company will be hoping to provide itself and the industry will get a much-needed shot in hand.
Maruti S-Presso will Replace Alto ?
The car has already been spied on in the trial, and the has been reported as next generation alto. But it will not be sold as the new Alto, and will be sold as Maruti S-Presso. The 1.0-litre BS-VI compliant petrol engine will promote the Maruti S-Presso. The vehicle is reported to have AMT (automatic transmission) option. To be available through the Maruti Arena outlets, Maruti S-Presso will be the successor to Maruti Alto. It is not clear whether the S-Presso will replace Alto, or both cars will be present simultaneously. Given that Maruti has updated the existing Alto with the BS6 engine, and the safety features, the existing Alto will continue to be sold with the Maruti Suzuki S Presso 2019.
2019 Maruti S Presso Interior
Maruti Suzuki S Presso 2019 is expected to offer dual-tone exterior color themes to appeal to young audiences. The interior will have a refreshing dashboard and a fully loaded variant touchscreen infotainment system. Features like dual front airbags, speed alert systems, reverse parking sensors, front passenger seat belt reminders and ABS will be offered as standard fitments in compliance with the new safety rules.
The new small car has been fully developed by Maruti in India (no additional charges to be paid company Suzuki). Although the Maruti S-Presso is to bring some speed selling in the small car segment, it will be difficult for a single product to bend things so much. The share of the entry level car segment in India declined from 30% in 2010 to only 12% by the end of 2018. First-time car buyers prefer segments above the financing and easy availability of increased spending capacity, entry level hatchbacks. There is not much information about the Maruti S-Presso yet, but according to Ketan Thakkar’s report at ET, the small car will target the Renault KWID with an around 5 lakh price range. According to Future S Concept, a crossover-is style can be expected from the Maruti Suzuki. Maruti Suzuki S-presso ground clearance is to be expected around 180 mm and dimensions will be bigger then alto.
